[News] Scott unveils new Ransom endurance bike

As enduro turns into freeride bikepark, Scott has built a new, much more capable Ransom. A bike for the way mountain bikers do enduro today. A bike that climbs climbs almost as well as it descends descents. But still, a bike that can be used in shuttles or bikeparks.

The new Ransom's hidden shock design drives a six-bar linkage, allowing for precise suspension tuning, which is exactly what committed enduro riders demand. Scott engineers designed the new Ransom to be compatible with various shock options from the most recognized mountain bike suspension brands.

Whether riders want the feel of a pneumatic or helical shock absorber, the new Ransom adapts to both. Fox's Float X, X2, DHX and DHX2 shocks are options, as are RockShox's SuperDeluxe Air, Marzocchi's Bomber air and coil shocks, and Öhlins TTX22 coil and TTX2 air shocks.

Why the hidden shock absorber design? Securely fitted to the frame, the Ransom shock absorber is protected from environmental contamination such as dust and mud, eliminating wear on the seal and strut. The shock absorber is also protected against dents and scratches in the event of a collision on rocky terrain.

Scott Ransom - Geometria

True to its enduro target audience, the Ransom has a slack head angle of 63.8 degrees. The Ransom can also be loosened to 63.2 degrees, with an adjustment chip, to run with a smaller diameter 27.5-inch rear wheel for riders who want faster acceleration in corners.

Another feature of the frame cavity and access is the Syncros Matchbox kit. Scott's interpretation of utility storage in the frame can house a spare tube, chain tool, multi-tool and tire levers.

Scott Ransom - Models

Scott is marketing the new Ransom in five versions, including a Contessa version specifically for women. The premium versions include Scott's Trac-Loc suspension adjustment system. This system allows the rider to select 130 mm of rear suspension travel when needed to climb steep sections of trail, or for better acceleration on berms and over rollers on smooth-flowing trails.

The new Ransom's weight ranges from 15.2 kg for the 900 RC to 16.7 kg for the 930.
