The Garmin Connect application is undergoing a major overhaul.

Garmin is entering 2024 with a "new year, new me" approach, and this is evidenced by a huge revamp of Garmin Connect.

The Garmin Connect application is undergoing a major overhaul.

The new interface will provide a simplified experience and device users will be encouraged to choose the specific elements they want on their Connect homepage.

Garmin Connect is the bridge between your Garmin smartwatch or cyclocomputer and your smartphone. While your device can keep you up to date with your latest stats and activities, you'll want a bigger screen for in-depth analysis.

At the moment, the Garmin Connect app isn't difficult to explore, but it tends to "bombard" you with statistics and analysis the moment you open the app, with counters for your stress levels, body battery, heart rate and more, before focusing on your latest activities and weekly summaries. This is vital information, but perhaps it doesn't need to be displayed the moment you open the app.

Perhaps that's why Garmin has made simplifying the application's home page its most important priority. Instead of a scrollable list of statistics, the Garmin Connect homepage is now made up of a series of tiles that you can add, remove and rearrange as needed. You can see a photo of the current app design at the top of the article, with the new design just above this paragraph.

Personal choice is the key here, and there's a strong emphasis on taking what you need and getting rid of what you don't. You don't really need the Today tile. Don't really need the Today's Activity tile with its record of the day's activities, events and upcoming workouts? You can delete it and replace it with the At a Glance tile overview of your heart rate, intensity minutes, steps, calories and much more. Or the Training Plan tile, or the Challenges tile, which shows your performance on your personal goals.

The images provided by Garmin clearly show that this design update is a breath of fresh air. The new and improved Garmin Connect has already been available as a beta version since January 8th for certain devices, and will be released for all other devices at the end of 2024.
