Is the hype true or not ... the Continental Kryptotal ... yes or no?

When it comes to choosing tires, there is always a wide choice on the market that will make your decision difficult. Here's a good suggestion.

Is the hype true or not ... the Continental Kryptotal ... yes or no?

We are truly privileged.

We received the bikes equipped with Maxxis DHF and DHR (or Dissector or similar) exo+ and started with our “style" that an eBike at least has to have DDs because they're heavy and so on. If it weren't for our style, we'd use everything until we wore it out and only then would we look for alternatives.

But we love style.

As well as fashions, some of us love to experiment with material (your friend here is one of those). I may not have a nail kit, but I love experimenting with gear. When it comes to tires, my dear, on my ebikes, I've mounted all the clichés that the "experts" tell us:

  • DHF e DHR
  • Magic Mary and Big Betty
  • Eddy Currents front and rear (up to 2'8 just so you can see the level of madness that goes on here)
  • Assegai front and rear
  • DD, DH Casing, Super Gravity ....

The Continental Kryptotal were a pleasant surprise! I didn't like the tires on my Levo Expert Carbon and decided, instead of going for the trusty Assegai + DHR, to switch from the usual Maxxis and Schwalbe... the price was basically the same, in stores and online it's possible to equip the bike for 130-135€. The fact that they were 2'4 thick didn't worry me because I've always used inserts in the rear tire and it turned out to be the right choice. For the casing I chose DH at the back and Enduro at the front and the softest for both, because ... to hell with the rubber, what we want is grip.

I've had them for almost 4 months, I've ridden in bike parks, enduro tracks, rock gardens, more natural trails... They never lack grip, on the contrary, the 2'4s are enough and the front seems to track well!
When pedaling, they create some drag, the Kryptotal Re compared to the DHR or a Dissector doesn't roll as well, but when descending it's a different league. It's a compromise we have to make. It will use 2% more battery, yes, but on the descents it will give you more confidence.

hah but is Bruno better than the Assegai? No! It's the same level, the same price, it has a front and rear tire version (and that's worth a few more points if not for the effort). The margins of difference at this level of premium ranges are so thin that only an ultra pro can make a more accurate judgment, although in my opinion it will always be based on a logic of personal preference and confidence in the characteristics of what one is better than the other.

For me, an end-of-day warrior during the week (when I can) and at the weekend... the Continental Kryptotal Fr and Re are phenomenal.
